The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.
It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the onset of a new presidential term.
“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”
This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The pig, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.
“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.
“It embodies the character of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
