The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a great sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have a few surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
