Recent Information Surface Regarding the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light concerning the shocking deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held without bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
The source also refuted published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
