Pep Guardiola has admitted experiencing "embarrassment" after a confrontation with a TV crew member subsequent to the Citizens' loss away to the Magpies this past weekend.

At full time, a visibly upset Guardiola stepped onto the field and engaged in intense talks with the referee, Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I said sorry," the manager remarked. "I'm humiliated, regretful, when I see it. It's not acceptable. I apologised after one second to the operator. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I’m not a perfect person, errors happen."

"One thing is certain, I stand by my team and club, that’s for sure. Why I want to defend my team is clear – based on my career to clinch the title we have to do 100 points, 98 points, or we fall short."

Team Standing and Guardiola's Assessment

City are third and are seven behind the Gunners after what was their fourth league defeat this campaign. "Four defeats in twelve matches means we must do better," he conceded. "Technically, we can still achieve all."

When questioned if this meant the quadruple could be achieved, Guardiola answered: "As a seasoned reporter, have you ever heard me discuss four trophies last winter during our historic run? No."

Exchange with Bruno

Regarding his confrontation with the Newcastle player, the coach explained: "I've known him for many years and post-match, home or away, we converse. We often meet and we get along well. I enjoy it. I’m an emotional guy, I love to talk and gesticulate."

Guardiola would not be concerned if an opposition manager addressed his squad immediately after a game. "No - as long as it's respectful like I always have done, it's fine," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it for 95 minutes, 98 minutes, he was involved. Goodness, very much so."

Debatable Calls

The team felt aggrieved that the officials did not award City a penalty for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, and doubted Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Subsequent images indicate the Brazilian was onside.

Upcoming Milestone

Guardiola will take charge of his 100th Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen this week. "It’s quite good, showing we compete we have been there," he said.

The club has ten points after four games in the group, and Leverkusen hold five.
