Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
