Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
