Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
