Administration Accused of Assault on Free Speech Following UK Reporter Held
A major Islamic civil rights organization has alleged the present leadership of a clear attack to freedom of expression” following national border officials arrested UK reporter Sami Hamdi this past Sunday.
The organization claimed that Hamdi was held at San Francisco International airport facility due to speaking out against the Israeli continuing military campaign in Gaza. He is among a number of individuals who have been arrested and removed by immigration enforcement for voicing pro-Palestinian views.
DHS officials announced that Hamdi’s travel visa had been revoked, and that he was in custody “pending removal.”
ICE Detains UK Reporter After Comments of Israeli Policies
UK reporter Sami Hamdi was reportedly held over the weekend by federal immigration authorities at a major US airport, and the organization says that the detention is obvious retaliation for the Islamic analyst’s comments of Israeli actions while touring the US.
Comments from the organization said it was “a clear attack to freedom of expression” to hold Hamdi for speaking out against the Israeli current military operations in Gaza while he was involved on a speaking tour. A government representative commented in a separate statement that Hamdi is facing deportation.
